Blockade Runner Beach Resort assesses impacts of Hurricane Florence

Access to the island of Wrightsville Beach was granted yesterday, and the Blockade Runner staff is currently working with community officials and professional crews to evaluate the impacts of Hurricane Florence on our resort’s facilities. At the present time, all reservations and events hosted at the resort through Sunday, September 23 have been cancelled. We will continue to update information on our website homepage and also on our Facebook page.

We can report that the ocean did not overwash the dune line in front of the resort, and that the lawns seem in reasonably good shape. We are grateful that Wrightsville Beach as a whole experienced a better situation than many neighboring coastal communities, and we share concern for the many residents in inland areas where flooding is so extensive. Please be safe, and be sure to reference public safety announcements and the latest travel advisories as you formulate plans.

We will continue to provide updates on a regular basis.
