Kayak or Stand-up Paddleboard Relay Race
Race rounding buoys are set in front of the Blockade Runner dock for your group’s team competition. In the protected waters of Wrightsville Sound, you’ll learn to navigate prevailing winds and currents as you race to complete the course.
Participants receive a proper “paddling talk” from one of our Surf to Sound Academy Instructors. They are then issued life jackets, kayaks and paddles.
Your group will form teams of 2-4 participants, dividing athletic abilities equally among all teams. At the start, two competing kayaks will navigate the course, returning to shore to tag their next team member. Continue until all have run the course. Strategy pays off if you use your talents properly. A sprinter first? An anchorman last? What‘s the strongest combination of your team’s collective talents?
Stand-up Paddleboards (SUPs) may be substituted for, or used in combination with kayaks, for more experienced paddlers.
2 hour program; 6 – 24 guests; $100 per person
Buoyed race course, life jackets, kayaks, instruction and safety vessel are all included.
